There are four different kinds of exercises. These include stretching, strength training, aerobic and flexibility. Each type has its own purpose in the body's healing process. Stretching is done to increase range of motion. Strength training helps to build muscle and improve bone density. Aerobic exercise is done for cardiovascular health. Flexibility is used to reduce stress and maintain joint mobility.

Stretching

Stretching is done to increase the range of motion of a particular joint or muscles. It can be done with the assistance of a personal trainer or with the use of a stretching machine. There are two types of stretching exercises. They are static and dynamic. Static stretching involves holding a stretch for about 30 seconds. Dynamic stretching involves moving a joint through a full range of motion. Static stretching should be done before any other form of exercise.

Strength Training

Strength training involves using resistance to force the muscles to contract. It is done to increase the strength of a muscle group or to strengthen the bones. It can also be done to decrease fat. A muscle group is said to be strengthened when it is able to lift more weight than before. The amount of weight lifted is called the resistance. Resistance can be applied by using free weights or machines. Free weights are usually the best option because they are inexpensive and easy to use.

Aerobic Exercise

Aerobic exercise is done to increase your heart rate. It involves activities that require you to breathe hard for a long period of time. Activities that require you to breathe hard are running, walking, jumping rope and swimming. If you do not have access to a gym, you can do aerobics at home. This is especially good for people who live in apartments where there is no room for a gym. You can also do aerobics at the beach, at parks and at playgrounds. Aerobic exercises are also known as cardiovascular exercise.

Flexibility

Flexibility is done to prevent injuries and to increase joint mobility. It is important to do flexibility exercises regularly. It is done by stretching your muscles. Flexibility is especially important for people who have arthritis. It also improves posture and helps to maintain healthy joints.

The following tips can help you to do these exercises:

1. Always warm up before exercising.
2. Start slowly and gradually work your way up to your desired level of intensity.
3. Do aerobic exercises early in the morning or late at night.
4. Stretch before and after you exercise.
5. Avoid doing aerobic exercises if you are sick.
